Christian Service is a requirement for graduation. A minimum of 80 hours must be completed over a student's four-year career. All hours must be approved by the Coordinator of Christian Service. The deadlines for completing this requirement are as follows: Students may choose when they earn their 80 service hours. There is not a yearly requirement.

In the weeks and months leading up to the trip, the students raise money through JSerra's Peru Club, which was started in 2007 by two students who had taken the trip. The money raised by the club goes to the church, school and orphanage in Piura.
