Pure Beasthunter gems suck, becaues of how damage calculation works. They do much better as secondary effects. So I imagine you'd want Madman Tempering gems with Beasthunter Secondaries for melee VS Beasts weapon, or like Abyssal_Paladin suggested converted Fire weapon (24.8% Fire from Watchdog or 27.2% Fire from Watchers plus two +65 Arc Scaling Cold Gems from Elder), also with Beasthunter ...Stake Driver Description.
